Experienced Humanitarian Pharmacy Role - Guinea

Interesting PSM role available in Guinea at the moment with Catholic Relief Services.

They're looking for a French speaking pharmacist with considerable Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Management experience, but...

I think there's a argument for highly experienced but non-pharmacist med log applying:

  • key skills and responsibilities for the role are PSM, planning, leadership etc

  • the role manages pharmacists, therefore team responsibilities can be re-distributed

  • talent pool is likely to be small, therefore a strong and experienced med log may be preferable to an average pharmacist!

Just a few thoughts - if you want to chat about how present the application (which closes in 2 days), give me a shout on this forum.

Thanks!

Hi Kate,

How long is the role for? Do you require the PT to speak French as well?

Hi Teresa

I can't provide you a definitive answer as I'm not the recruiter - I just share humanitarian pharmacy related jobs on this forum for the benefit of the community.

The length of role isn't specified in the advert, but I'd guess that it's a year and the potential for longer subject to grant/funding.

They specify that oral and written French is essential - it's the national language so I imagine that this will be a non-negotiable point for the recruiters, and rightly so.

Happy to have a quick chat to advise if you're thinking about applying.

Kate

Great opportunity with a fantastic organisation, for an individual with a couple of years' humanitarian pharmacy experience. Role overview: Defining, coordinating and monitoring all pharmacy related activities in the project area including management of staff, according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures and the mission’s pharmacist and Medical Coordinator’s guidelines, in order to ensure the proper management and supply of drugs and medical devices.
